Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) & Device Recognition

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an additional layer of protection for your account. It ensures that only you have access – even if someone knows your password.

How 2FA works at BISON

For security-relevant actions or when logging in on new devices, your password alone is not enough. You will receive an individual code via SMS, which you must enter directly in the app to confirm the action.

Logging in with an "unknown" device

If you log in on a device you have not used for BISON before, a 2FA process is automatically triggered. You will then receive an SMS code to your registered number.

Why am I asked for a code again?

There are technical reasons why a device is classified as "unknown", even if you have used it before:

  • You are using a different browser or have performed a browser update.

  • You are using incognito mode.

  • Cookies have been disabled or deleted in your browser.

  • You have performed a software update on your smartphone.

  • 90 days have passed since your last 2FA entry.

SMS code not arriving

If you do not receive an SMS, it is usually due to local settings or provider issues. Please try these steps:

Checklist for your smartphone

  1. Restart: Restart your phone to renew the connection to the network operator.

  2. App reset: Completely close the BISON app in the background and restart it.

  3. Browser check: Clear cache and cookies or use incognito mode (preferably Google Chrome).

  4. Firmware & storage: Check whether your operating system is up to date and you have enough storage space for new SMS.

  5. Spam folder: Check your SMS spam folder. Some devices automatically filter messages from third parties.

  6. Special features: Temporarily disable Multi-SIM or the RCS function in your messaging settings.

If nothing helps, please contact us via the BISON contact form and provide your mobile network provider, device model, location, and the time of your attempt.

Security tips

  • Manage devices: Under "Account" -> "Settings" you can view and manage your linked devices at any time.

  • Suspected unauthorised access: If you receive a notification about an unknown device even though you have not logged in, please change your password and email address immediately.
