To best support you with your overview and your tax declaration, BISON provides you with detailed reports on your crypto activities. Here you will learn exactly what is included in your Info Report and your Custody Report.
BISON Info Report (Your Crypto Tax Assistance)
For your cryptocurrency transactions, we assist you with your tax declaration using the BISON Info Report, which is specifically designed for persons subject to tax in Germany.
Where can I find the report?
Your Info Report is accessible in the app or the web version under “Account” and “Reports”. After requesting it, the PDF for the respective tax year will be conveniently sent to your BISON mailbox. If you reside outside of Germany, Austria, or Switzerland, the report may not be available in the menu. Please contact our support team via the contact form to request it manually.
Contents What is included in the Info Report?
Non-binding calculation: The report lists your transactions in detail and offers you a non-binding calculation of your realised gains and losses at BISON according to the FiFo method (First-In First-Out). Simply put, this means: For tax calculation purposes, it is assumed that the crypto assets you acquired first were also the first to be sold again.
Holding period: The calculation shows you exactly the total sum of your realised gains and losses, divided into a holding period of over one year and under one year.
Staking: The total of your received staking rewards is also separately listed in the document.

How does the calculation work for transfers to own wallets?
If you transfer cryptocurrencies from BISON to an external wallet (e.g. your Ledger or another exchange) and later send them back to BISON, the "holding period tracker" at BISON for these coins starts again at "zero".
Why is this the case? As soon as cryptocurrencies leave our platform, the continuous history breaks off for our system. Even if you later send exactly the same amount back to us, we cannot technically verify with 100% certainty what happened to these coins in the meantime. Therefore, our system must treat your transfer to the external wallet as an "outflow" and the later return to BISON as a "new inflow".

Representation in the report: In the Info Report, cryptocurrencies for which you have made an external deposit or withdrawal are highlighted in grey and are not included in the automatic gain/loss calculation. However, your individual deposits and withdrawals are listed separately in their own sections of the report.
Important for your taxes: This does not mean that your actual tax holding period is lost! If you have merely stored the coins on your own wallet, you can declare these transfers in a tax tool (such as Blockpit) as a tax-neutral "custody transfer" in order to correctly preserve your original holding period.
Tax notes
No exemption order for crypto: Since no taxes for cryptocurrency transactions are directly deducted from you at BISON and we do not cooperate with the tax office in this regard, we do not offer an exemption order for crypto. You must submit the annex for your crypto assets yourself with your tax return.
Securities: For your securities transactions (stocks/ETFs), you will instead receive a separate annual tax certificate directly in your BISON inbox.

Disclaimer: Please note that the Info Report is not legally binding. This information does not constitute tax or legal advice. The final review is your responsibility. For specific questions, please contact a tax or legal advisor.
Overview of your crypto positions (Your holdings overview)
While the Info Report focuses on gains and losses, the Custody Report serves as a pure record of your actual holdings and transactions at a specific point in time.
How do I get the Custody Report?
Automatically: Due to legal requirements, the Custody Report is automatically sent to your mailbox quarterly.
Manually: You can also request it at any time under "Reports" for a specific date in the past (up to a maximum retroactive date of 01.01.2025).
What is included in the Custody Report?
Holdings statement: The document contains a statement of the crypto assets that are held in custody for you by Boerse Stuttgart Digital Custody GmbH.
Valuation: For each asset, you can see the exact crypto value, the quantity, the value per unit, as well as the current market value on the chosen reference date.
Transaction overview: Additionally, the report contains a chronological list of all bookings incurred during the selected period such as purchases, sales, deposits, withdrawals, or staking activities.
